If you want to go hunting for lake spirits, you need to wake up early, when the surface of the water is still and reflective like a mirror. Get into your canoe and float out into the stillness, making sure not to make ripples with your paddle. Since you are hunting you will need to shoot; not with a gun but with your camera. What you’re looking for is a good reflection of the landscape. A wide shot from afar, or a detail close to the shoreline.

To find the spirits, just rotate the image 90 degrees, so that the horizontal is now vertical. Zoom in, if need be. Look for the spirits. They are there to be found.
