The White Pine timber used in this Burnt Bench came out of a building that at some point in history suffered through a fire. My job was to scrape off the char to reveal patterns caused by the heat of the blaze. Parts that were shielded from the flames by metal hardware did not burn, and appear as islands in a sea of burnt wood.
